I think that there were various foreshadowers. Two of those are that my career as a painter started from India throughout which is covered with vestiges of ancient civilization, and that my first anchorage was a village in Rajasthan desert all of which was filled with many murals.
I was overwhelmed by the power of the murals which totally makeovers the barren desert into a fertile paradise, and developed a sense of hope about my future possibility of getting a chance to perform such power. After that, I had an experience to visit tomb murals in Xian, cave temples in Dunhuang, and Astana tombs during a stopover in Silk Road on my way to China for studying painting, and was struck afresh by the strong beauty in those murals which have survived through relentless nature, insomuch that I realized a desire to try wall paintings more than ever.
The memorable place where she started her career as a muralist. You might want to stay at the hotel to appreciate it throughly.
A package tour with "Lifelike Images of Soldiers and Horses" is recommended. You'd better avoid Olympic season.

I unexpectedly received an offer asking me whether I wanted to do a wall painting at a hotel in Xian when I was in middle 40's which was my last minute timing to step into mural field. In Xian, although it was a year and half struggle in a horrible environment and harsh climate, I've been very lucky to bring it to something I am happy with.

However, a considerable amount of years and a charging period was needed before entering into an actual work since I dreamed of becoming a wall painter. From my experience, it turns out to be very hard and a physical labor with various restrictions on a construction site, which requires significant strength and patience.

We are driven by some feelings, work feverishly on what we believe, and take a long look at ourself later, then we gradually know what it is. I believe that life goes beyond speculation or calculation and our predecessors meant it by "destiny" or "karma". I now see that reinforced as true since I started wall paintings over a decad ago.

You cannot give yourself over to what is not a matter of life unless you really like it. I suppose that painter's spirit is to do your own thing while being strict with yourself.

Especially, it can be told by uncovered cave murals that they were the primordial mode of expression of what human beings are fond of. After several ten thousand years from then, the purity of conduct which may already have been lost today is evident in strong, precise, and flowing touch in the murals. I sometimes feel like I'm having a conversation with ancient artists through strokes while painting a wall.

This is my 23rd murals (Her challenge amounted to 50th in 2007). Why do I persist in painting walls? I let myself follow my instincts like "I want to burn myself out by doing what I really like to do all day long".

She worked on a total of 49 murals.
Now working on 42 fusumas (sliding doors) of Tenryuji Hogonin Hondo (main hall) in Arashiyama, Kyoto.
Murals possess some kind of power which not only excites painter's such imagination that goes beyond time and space, but also freely dominates the space and atmosphere that they reside in, providing power and mild relief for the viewers. I would like to continue such awesome work of wall painting as long as goddes allows me to do so.
